Classification of Nouns
Nouns may be classified as.
- Proper Noun - Names an individual or specific person, animal, place or thing.
- Common Noun - Names a common group or class of persons, animals, places or things.
- Count Noun - Names things which can be counted.
- Mass Noun - Names things which cannot be counted.
- Abstract Noun - Names ideas, qualities, or conditions; names things which cannot be perceived by the senses
- Concrete Noun - Names objects which can be seen, touched, smelled, tasted or heard.
- Collective Noun - Names a group which can persons, animals or things which may refer to a whole unit or individual members
- Compound Noun - Two or more words which may be written as a single word or hyphenated.
